The murder of his Professor by a postgraduate physics student during a lecture at Crete University in November 1990 shocked Greece. Many found Yatromanolakis' novel based on the event equally shocking, as he seemed to have more sympathy for the murderer than the the victim and transposed his crime to the world of myth.
