Sonja wished she was somewhere else and not listening to all this. She tried telling herself that, even if it was all true, there was nothing she, an actress and now an out-of-work actress, could ever have done about it. Surely she was innocent? In any case it could not possibly be true. It might be that Reinhardt was mad and everything he was saying was some dark lunatic fantasy brought on by the horror and fear of the War.
