Eric Dickens

Eric Dickens (1953-2017) was a literary translator who took an interest in the literature some of the smaller countries of Europe. They include that of the Estonians, the Finland-Swedes, the speakers of Nynorsk in Norway, and the Flemings. For him Flemish literature was more experimental, avant garde and groundbreaking than that of the Netherlands; he attributed this to its minority status. Eric Dickens was from an Anglo-Dutch family. He grew up in England and went to the University of East Anglia, where he studied Swedish and European Literature. He is the editor of The Dedalus Book of Flemish Fantasy and also the translator of the texts for The Dedalus Book of Estonian Literature.
