Marcel Bealu

Marcel Bealu was born in the Loir-et-Cher region of France in 1908 and began his working life when only twelve. While working as a hat maker in 1937 he met the cubist poet Max Jacob who encouraged him to write. He published the first of his seven novels Memoires de l'ombre in 1941 followed by The Experience of the Night in 1945. In his latter years he became well-known as a Parisian bookseller.
