Jean-Auguste Ingres(1780-1867)is the leading exponent of the classical tradition in France in the 19th century.The Louvre contains many of his best work and he is also represented in The National Gallery in London. The Portrait of Mme de Senonnes is in The Museum of Beaux- Arts in Nantes.
